EDIT: OMG. I was a huge derp and forgot to post the link to the Arda contest. OTL.... I'm sorry guys! Here you are! apps.tradablebits.com/fb/SRHb?…
Hey everyone! First of all, I'm sorry I haven't made a Youmacon post yet. My computer wiped its entire drive last Wednesday and well... yeah.
Second, I'm still in the Arda wig contest! the contest ends in 5 days, so please vote for me! I'm currently in second place and we need a big push to pull into first! Top 3 do not get prizes this time around. Only 1st place does! So please help me out! Thank you very much!!!
Moving on, Youmacon..
Here are the basics:
Friday. Lot's of fun! I changed clothes way too much and I don't even know how my Friday schedule got that way. I drove in to Detroit on that Thursday and spent the night with my parents and snuggled my dog. He's very soft. He's a bichon. Sooo snuggly! And then the next morning I went to the con and arrived at about 11:30 already wearing my Alice costume. I did a shoot with and then hauled my things out of my car to the hotel and changed into Meg. I did a shoot in Meg with Scott at the Greektown Hotel. It was fun and removed and we didn't have the entire convention asking for photos in the middle of the shoot so that was nice. Afterwards I wandered and then had a skit practice with and friends. It was a good practice but even though we found a remote location of the Ren Center (let me stress that a REMOTE location where businesses were CLOSED and no one was there!), people still were rudely walking through the middle of the skit, stepping on our props asking for photos while we're in the middle of dancing and a random hugs girl almost glomped while she was singing. SINGING. Ugh.... I really can't believe how clueless people can be sometimes. But yeah, after that I changed into a lolita outfit for funsies and got really drunk at the Marriott's bar off of like 1 glass of wine. (Other people who got wine from there also said the got really drunk on it too so it wasn't just me being sensitive to it) It was a really fun night and everyone I was with were all fun and I can honestly say I haven't had that much fun in a really long time. Thanks for trying to steal my water from me!!
Saturday was a Vidia day. I spent most of the day in Vidia. Did a shoot with Scott and two other Pixie hollow girls! as Spike and also as Periwinkle! Afterward I got out of Vidia because I wanted to visit the dealer room and getting there in my wings wouldn't have worked well with my short time schedule as I needed to be in the Green Room at 6. But I went, didn't buy anything but said hello to many people I knew and then ran off to get changed again.
The Masquerade for Youmacon is always a great experience. The green room was well equipped with a large screen and two speakers, plus they provided dinner and dessert for us to eat. There was tons of pizza, snacks, pop (or soda... for the coastal friends) and all of the cake that didn't sell in the maid cafe the previous day. It was a super short masquerade with only 4 skits and about 30 walk ons. The half-time show took longer than the masquerade itself which stretched everyone's patience pretty thin. But all in all a great show. The skit I was in won Best in Show! It was really thanks to and 's insane craftsmanship skills. Even so we won some insane prizes like getting a 3D print of ourselves! Here's the skit link for you to watch! youtu.be/rFJQP2lWaK4
After the masq, I got out of Vidia and changed into normal person clothes and went to the bar again. It wasn't as fun as Friday because we were all hung over already from the con and the previous day's drinking. So I left because sleeping is nice.
And Sunday I got back in to Vidia (normally I don't cosplay on Sunday because I really don't want to wear clothes at all tbh.) and went to the dealer room with my wings and wig separate so that people wouldn't harass me for photos. Put them on for the 3D printing people. They looked at me and went "wow pretty!" and also "oh f*ck..." because the wings are hard to photograph. REALLY hard to photograph so they did 2 rounds of photos with me just t be safe. It was funny. Then I wandered the dealer room, said hi to some more people and then went home because I had a long drive to do and an early morning, plus I had to stop by my parent's house and see them again before leaving. So yeah, I peaced out pretty unceremoniously. But I do love that I got to spend a lot of time with !! Because I never get to see her and actually hang out!
So there you go. That was basically my convention.
Next con: Katsucon!
